Tarka’s name all new

TARKASTAD – Thanks to Hans Botha and the Grade 10 pupils of Tarka High School and helpers, the Tarkastad sign against the mountain is again displayed in bright white. A special thanks was expressed to the sponsors, namely BKB Tarkastad, Scotts Caltex Garage and Snack Shop, The Story, Twizza and everybody who contributed to the endeavour.

 A COMMUNITY meeting was held in Ivanlew Community Hall on October 13 where Bonile Ngesi was introduced as ward councillor. Several matters were raised, among which were the road contracts, processes involved in appointing contractors and workers, repairs to RDP houses, unity in the community and free access to electricity for low-income households. A ward committee will be formed soon for which nominations will be invited through a public notice. Governance questions and issues will be addressed at a future public meeting with councillors for the ward.

GATEWAY Community Church will host their annual men’s camp from November 4 to 6. Guest speakers are Afrika Mhlope and Myan Subrayan. Tickets are available at R400 per person, which includes meals, and more information is available from Robbie Wardle on 082-784 2111.

THE annual Tarkastad Rose Show will be held at “Ons Moedersaal” in Tarkastad on November 5 with special guest Susan Coetzer. Tickets available at R120 per person from Anna-Marie on (045) 846-9402 or Cornette on (045)847-0050.
