Concerned residents of Molteno and Sterkstroom found this week that they were unable to buy electricity for almost a week, apparently due to technical problems. A resident, who did not want to be named, told The Rep she relied on a generator which cost her R100 daily. “We cannot buy units since last week as there is some kind of technical problem.“
Enoch Mgijima Municipal spokesman Gcobani Msindwana said the server had been struck by lighting.“Communities could not buy electricity but it has since been resolved. Molteno has been working since Tuesday and we are currently looking to have Sterkstroom back up by the end of next week.”
